As Marcas da Gravidade nos Ombros do CarteiroTheatro CircoWhile we live, two things we have for granted: death at the end of our days and the force of gravity to attract us to the ground. During this time, we always oscillate between one and the other side of things. And like the postman, we carry the weight of the door to door dreams while we hear the eternal rumor of people. The next day, we return again to the same point ready to start a new cycle. And like Sisyphus, we know that we have a stone to carry and that we are the only one that can do it.
This piece is a metaphor for our existence, always between balance and imbalance, go and stay, and the eternal search of death of death itself. -
GamultTheatro CircoIt is a story that begins in Java ...
First was the Gamelan, the sonic beauty handmade, one of the gems of the Casa da Música. Latter the Robotic Gamelan appeared, a technological process for simple handling that made it possible for anyone to explore, by remote control, some original gamelan modules. Emerged under the Ao Alcance de Todos and later used by the general public and artistic interventions, involves a hardware that powers mechanical arms.
For the Robotic Gamelan was developed in Digitópia, the Gamult: with this software, our small orchestra of robots-instrumentalists is controlled by an intuitive and original interface. A three in one formula, an oriental instrument of ancient origin, requiring protection, receives the new technology. We can touch it without touching it. -
HIVEGNRationHIVE is about the individual and its contribution to the whole.
A pulse sensor measures the user’s heartbeat and uses it to create an entity within the system. The juxtaposition and interaction of the different users’ heartbeats creates a soundscape rich in polyrhythm and motion as the entities assume their positions and establish a stochastically generated structure that evolves over time.

Matrix ShapesGNRationMatrix Shapes is an interactive audiovisual installation with abstract graphics generated in real time by analyzing musical parameters. The user interacts with the system dynamically by changing the shapes, textures, colors and motion graphics through gestures and movement in the surrounding área.

Phil Niblock & Ana CarvalhoGNRationEmerging within the physical space of the gallery, Phill Niblock’s distinctive sonic density, imbues, with a certain transcendental quality, in dialogue, the circular chromatical thikness of the images of Ana Carvalho.
Grounded on a sensorial argument, “Quietude Acelerada”, proposes a metaphorical promenade thrugh a possible path between the subtle rise and the serenity of vanishing. The absence of gravitational forces serves as analogy to describe a certain unintentionality on movement.
Phill Niblock is an intermedia artist using music, film, photography, video and computers. Since the mid-60's he makes thick, loud drones of music, filled with microtones of instrumental timbres which generate many other tones in the performance space. Simultaneously, he presents films / vídeos which look at the movement of people working, or computer driven black and white abstract images floating through time. Since 1985, he has been the director of the Experimental Intermedia Foundation in New York where he has been an artist/member since 1968. He is the producer of Music and Intermedia presentations at EI since 1973 and the curator of EI's XI Records label. Phill Niblock's music is available on the XI, Moikai, Mode and Touch labels. A DVD of films and music is available on the Extreme label. In 2014, he is the recipient of the John Cage Award from the Foundation for Contemporary Arts.
Ana Carvalho is an intermedia artist, composes and performs with video. Her performative videographic work reflects the relentless pursuit, through colors and shapes, which define the Naturopoliphonic multitude, the relationship between microscopic and cosmic, between the unit and the indistinctly noisy. Her projects describe interactions with others from where narrative combinations develop somewhere between fiction and reality and reflect the process as artistic practice. Winner of the prize Bolsa Ernesto de Sousa 2012, has been working collaboratively with artists from various fields but especially sound artists.
Ana Carvalho is one of the eight artists that constitute the chain of Andrómeda, within which she has performed in Portugal.

Pray for our soulsGNRation“Pray for our souls” arises from a dream I had at the time of my father’s death. It was a dream about loss, absence and emptiness, about the irreversible nature of death and the indelible mark it leaves in each one of us, turning us into a different kind of animal, one that in fact never releases their dead ones or allows them to leave.
“Pray for our souls” reconciles death as the irrefutable component of human life, using artistic and technological expressions in order to build a memorial where each dead is represented through the departure of a balloon. Each machine searches the web, through a news feed, constantly seeking reports about deaths.

Sonic DimensionsGNRation
Sonic Dimensions is an audiovisual installation that allows real-time interaction with the visual and sound elements.the user is placed in the center of a three-dimensional visual and sound space and is invited to transform the existing sound elements by manipulating virtual objects with his own movements in space.
Sonic Dimensions implements a noninvasive system for detection of motion based on the sensor Kinect; along side a visual three dimensional graphics interface allows a natural and immersive interaction. -
toocloseGNRation
"tooclose" is a reactive installation, which aims to explore the possibility of developing different sensory states around the concept of empathy between human and machine.
Is represented in this installation, the daily chart, "Human vs the object / machine ", not in the sense of confrontation, but rather a sense of individual communion and creating feelings, be they good or bad.
In this context, it is possible to trigger changes in the basal state of the machine through the presence and proximity of user.
In order to illustrate this interaction effect - man vs machine - the installation you want to enable empathic state through a sculpture made up of several details between them, bright and sonic detail. -
XilotronGNRationXilotron is an interactive musical instrument, based on the water xylophone, that explores how technology can enhance the creation of melodies and its massive exponentiation through direct sharing on social networks.
The project was developed by recent graduates of the course of Graphic Design and Multimedia in the School of Fine Arts and Design (ESAD.CR), Polytechnic Institute of Leiria, Portugal
